Thats right, I am going to present to you just 4 simple questions that I know for a fact most of you haven’t considered. How do I know this? Because I have taken it upon myself to conduct a social experiment in search of people passions and in doing so I have asked 100+ people these 4 simple questions.
When I ask most people, they are typically mesmerized with confusion at first. Many have told me they have never considered these questions and how inspiring they actually are, and how they feel like the answers should roll of their tongue, but they don’t.
Yet, when they take some time to think about the questions some of them come back to me with one page or more answers to each question. No we are talking!
There is no right or wrong answer to these questions but what I am really fascinated about is the spectrum of answers and how they relate to each other. Ready for the questions?
1. What would you do with more free time?
2. What would you like more of in your life?
3. What would your ideal day look like?
4. What is your greatest fear?
These questions are like a slap upside the head for some.
“Hmmm free time? I cannot even imagine having any with my busy busy life.”
The origin of these questions came from the countless number of people asking me how I create free time for myself and how I try to live a passionate existence. These are the people that are just getting through the denial phase and are moving on to the acceptance phase of not living the passion they desire.
With corporate America crushing our creativity, as the years go on our passion and enthusiasm naturally lessons. There are some of us that are lucky enough to stay passionate about their chosen journey, some who choose to ignore the the lack of passion in exchange for safety and security, and then others who are everyday questioning why they are still doing what they are doing.
For those passionate about their chosen journey these questions may have no barring but for the others the answer to these questions can set you on a new path.
Take out a piece of paper and write these questions down. Answer them as truthfully as possible. My guess is that your passion will shine through in the answers. In addition, it is also likely that your greatest fear is over exaggerated and is getting in the way of you enjoying more free time and having more passion in your life.
Now that you know what you want more of and you know your fears aren’t as serious as you make them out to be, its time to start your journey to accomplish more of those ideal days. Want to know how? More to come next time.
