Here we are heading into a new year again. I don’t know about you but this year flew by for me. Lots of exciting happenings and new beginnings. I hope you had an equally exciting and fulfilling year but the fact is we all have very different lives and our experiences on a day to day and year to year basis are drastically dissimilar.
I know that a few of my personal friends perhaps had more difficult years than myself, losing loved ones, financial hardship, or just a general sense of stagnation.
Regardless of whether your year was your best year yet or you are looking for inspiration for the new year we all can use a little more daily happiness and a reminder of why we should be happy every day.
Earlier this year I was doing my typical 80/20 on my life (what are the 20% of things/activites I do that lead to 80% of my happiness?) and I started to realize a pattern in that if I was more consistent with those 20% of things on daily basis I was more likely to have a good day. Not rocket science.
What I also realized is that those 20% of things could create a buffer in between myself and those “not so great” days that we all experience from time to time.
My 20% things had the ability to put myself into my most powerful and positive “STATE” and reminding myself of those 20% things on a daily basis made it more likely that I would achieve that “STATE.”
My question to you is:
What are those 20% of things that bring you 80% of your happiness?
List em out! You know what they are. They are the things and activities that make you smile and give you fulfillment and excitement.
Now create a daily happiness “cheat sheet” where you can refer back to. Here is mine below. Feel free to cheat off of mine. Put it where you can see it everyday. I keep mine on my computer desktop so if I feel a little off I can refer back to it and see where I have been slacking on my 20% of things that bring me most of my happiness. Its almost always the cure to a sour day.
