Its been a few weeks since my last post because I have been diligently working on a new information product that I am going to be bringing to market.  The product is an ebook to educate Crohn’s and Colitis patients on the holistic options to help them control their illness.  Its all about helping sick patients overcome adversity.

So why do I care??  Well I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in 1999.  Don’t know what Crohn’s is?  Basically, its an AWFUL digestive disorder that creates chronic inflammation in your belly and makes your digestive system malfunction.  Its not pretty and it’s becoming an epidemic.

When I came down with the illness in 1999 I was misdiagnosed for 6 months and I lost 22 lbs in about 3 weeks.  My life came to a crashing halt.  A year later I was on 16 pills per day, the side effects of the medicine were almost as severe as the Crohn’s symptoms, and I was MISERABLE.

About a year into my illness one of my physicians wanted me to consider getting an operation on my colon, removing a few inches of it!   That’s when I had enough.  I knew there had to be other options!  So I set out and did what most Crohn’s patients don’t take the time to do, look into alternatives to the treatment I was receiving.   I knew there had to be other options for me…and there was!

After a few years of tireless experimentation with meditation, yoga, acupuncture, therapeutic breathing, and trying dozens of different diet alternatives I went off my medication and my symptoms receded.  I found a combination of diet and lifestyle change that worked for me and stuck with it.  I was able to overcome adversity.

Once I started feeling well I said to myself, “why don’t other people take the initiative to find a cure for their own disease?”  What I accomplished wasn’t some kind of miracle.  People all over the world overcome their illnesses everyday.  I am not just talking Crohn’s or Colitis, I am talking cancer, diabetes, and heart disease.

When I did some research I found that all of these stories involve people that take responsibility for healing themselves by not relying on their doctors or their medication.  I also found that it tended to be a “mind over body” type of healing process.  (If you are interested in checking out a life-changing read, check out the “Mind Body Prescription” by Dr. John Sarno.)

Think about how powerful this is!  I am telling you that people have actually cured their cancer by taking responsibility and controlling the disease with their mind! Why don’t more people take advantage of this??

To sum it up, I conquered my illness by taking responsibility and committing to defeat it ON MY OWN.  So how can you translate this into overcoming an adversity of your own?

First, stop relying on others to help you overcome adversity.  Whether you have cancer, you are going through a divorce, you are losing your home; you need to take responsibility.  Once you have done this, you have taken the biggest step.  Then the next thing to do is to train your mind to eliminate the adversity from your life.  Live as if its not even there!

Of course its easier said than done and its no wonder why most don’t take this initiative.  Most are scared, skeptical, or simply uneducated.  Get rid of that skeptical attitude and be open to change.  Imagine your life without your current “situation.”  Imagine how your life would be different.

Try reading some inspiration books about other people overcoming their adversity.  Fill your mind with positivity.  You will be surprised how your attitude and thinking will change.  If you commit your mind to it, you can overcome anything you put your mind too!
